We're getting downright domestic around here

After much anticipation, we were finally able to bring home our chickens last week. Say hello to the newest members of the Thompson family.
Violet is a Belgian D'Uccle. She's Evi's favorite and is very tame and very smart. It's still hard to tell, but I think she's at the top of the hen pecking order.

Searchlight is Easton's. She's a Cochin and also very tame.

The other two are Silkies. The buff-colored one is Fuzzy and is Olivia's, and the white one is Snowy and is Kylie's.
They've taken the week to get used to their new coop and prefer to be in it than out loose in the yard. They'll run back in if you leave the door open. They've been so fun to watch and make the funniest noises.
No eggs from them yet. They're still too young, but we're hoping to see our first egg in the next month or two.

We want to get chickens! However we have to wait for our city to change its ordinance to allow it which might happen this year or so (I'm actively involved trying to get a neighboring city to amend their ordinance). So far I've convinced one councilmember to be in favor. :)
